What business is it of the Governments whether that kid wants cancer treatment

What business is it of the Governments whether that kid wants cancer treatment?
What business is it of the governments whether this kid gets cancer treatments? I hope they don't find the kid. I know I don't want the government making healthcare decisions for me as they can't seem to run anything they already run well.

Your Religion does not permit you to let your kids die in America...And thank God for that. If that was the case many sick and worthless humans could hide behind any religion they wanted , to abstain from their responsibilities. The government is 100% correct in their interpretation of the law here.

Good question. I say let him do what he wants.

Because, it's not the KID, it's the parents. They are denying him "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. And, when that happens, it's a government matter.

Protection of the innocent is in their mandate

Funny. I don't seem to remember Conservatives having that opinion back in the Terri Schiavo case. They were all for having the government intervene in a private health care decision then.

zip, zero, none. the federal government in infringing upon that family's 1st amendment right. Hell, I hold no religious domination, and I would never put my body through chemo (or radiation) Quirk is correct. The government had no business in the Schiavo case either.

It's not the gov's concern whatsoever. (However, I am concerned about the religious indoctrination of this kid though.) You're right, government run healthcare sucks. Been there, done that. It equals long lines and pain. I was 11 years old with a broken bone. Had to wait 4 excruciating hours for treatment. i can only imagine what universal healthcare has in mind for us.

The child's cancer is highly curable with treatment. When he was questioned it was obvious that he didn't really understand the situation he was in. The government has it right this time.

Without treatment, the kid will die. In this country, we deem that children are not mature enough to make decisions such as these.

the gov't should step out on this one...the kid AND his parents don't want it, he went through it once already...they want to try something knew, that should be their choice. **And the gov't WILL be making heath care decisions for you, if they get their way, didn't you know?

What business is it of the government if you choose not to feed your children. The boy's view does not have any legal standing, as he is a minor. He can't decide whether or not he can have sex, he can't decide who would make the best President of the United States, and he can't be trusted to decide whether the benefits of smoking (if any) outweigh the health risks. It's about his mom deciding on his behalf, that he should forgo the treatment. Thus, it's just like if feeding him was against their religious beliefs.

If there were alternative treatments for this child, there would be no problem. Cases like this have let the parents make the decision if there are other treatments. That is not the case here. This child will most likely die, so they see it as a form of child endangerment or child abuse. If a parent let their child starve to death, would that be wrong? If a parent let their child bleed to death, would that be wrong? I hope he dies and I hope she goes to prison...death row.

THEY HAVE NO BUSINESS AT ALL,JUST LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO IRAQ.

none- although Hodgkin's has very high cure rate if treated w/ chemo- chemo is very hard on the body- whether or not i agree with the kid/or family's' decision it is still their right to chose the therapy they want- religious issues also tie into life saving blood transfusions- it's as very tricky area w/ a lot of grey... but ultimately that decision belongs to the family- i'm almost a nurse and we are taught to respect religious preferences towards care as healthcare providers and the government needs to do the same- personally i would want to see him go thru w/ the chemo, but it's not my decision to make.

Government should protect the well being of children. Adults should be free to make their own decisions. Children need some protection though. I assume you must be pro-abortion to.... EDIT: How is this any different than a parent withholding insulin from a child? If the kids dies from neglect by the parents they'll probably get in trouble with the law for his death.

because they are bored and have nothing more to do. i guess they want everyone to live. there are already 7 billion people on this planet and that's way too many.

his cancer is treatable, without it he will die. i don't care what religion you are, to me the mom is slowly killing her son by not getting the chemo he needs. so what if he gets sick from it, all cancer patients do. they need to be found, and the mom thrown in jail for child endangerment.

The kid is too young to decide for himself and his parents will not let him receive the treatment based on religious beliefs. His parents decided he would be better off if he followed a holistic native american treatment, which is idiotic. The government wants the boy to be reevaluated by an oncologist to see if he would benefit from additional chemotherapy and radiation therapy. If he will not benefit then there the government sees no need to force the treatment on the child. The government is right in their interpretation of the law.

Well it is not. No where in the Constitution does it grant the government this power. But since they have the firepower. And they feel like meddling. It doesn't really matter now does it? We have huge numbers of people who think it ok for the government to meddle. They are going to do what is best for you whether you like it or not.

Thank god, I'm an atheist. Seriously though if god did exist what would he say to this woman when he passes judgment. "You let your son die when you could have saved him. Good Job. Welcome to heaven." If that's the quality of people who get into heaven I'd rather go to hell. What would god say to the Judge that ordered treatment. "You tried to save some kid. I banish you to an icy lake of fire and rot. Muhaahaaaha."
