No, sorry. I hope she feels better soon.
2 :
...never...but my good friend who had Leukemia smoked alot of weed.....it really helped him.....
3 :
Yes I have. I remember just trying to sleep though it. room temp. sprite and soda crackers did help some.
4 :
No, but I took care of my best friend Stacie, as her care partner at Moffitt in Tampa, then again, three years later, in Seattle. I think my quick wit & sunny disposition helped, cause it sure wasn't my James Bond-like good looks. Lucky, if it will help, I volunteer to have my head shaved (again) in support. The power and the might...is in your hands just say the word
5 :
No but Lucky is my friend over on Dizzay and I pray for her a lot.

What is the outlook of renal cell(kidney) cancer without treatment

What is the outlook of renal cell(kidney) cancer without treatment?

Unfortunately dismal. See your doctor right away.
2 :
Death but you knew that already didn't you?
3 :
If left untreated, then the cancer will continue to grow and eventually overwhelm the patient.
4 :
Unfortunately the outlook is quite bad, especially with out treatment.
5 :
Agree with BSherman and Monocyte What stage? This is crucial information you are not providing us. Surgery is by far the best treatment for renal cell carcinomas. The best hope is to resect these completely if possible. Systemic treatments - e.g. various chemotherapy treatments - have a low partial response rate and virtually zero cure rate for advanced metastatic disease. It sure would help us to know the stage of the person's disease you are asking about. For those with advanced metastatic disease, a person may have a similarly poor outlook with or without treatment since many of these renal carcinomas do not respond to any of the multiple chemotherapeutic options we have available - all of which are very expensive and yield limited responses for a minority of people.

My mom's cancer may have spread to her leg bone and liver. What treatment options does she have

My mom's cancer may have spread to her leg bone and liver. What treatment options does she have?
My mom, a smoker aged 61, had a kidney removed some two years ago because of kidney cancer. A recent CT scan has shown signs that cancer may have spread to her leg bone and liver. I am anxious to know what effective treatment options are available.

You should call Cancer Treatments of America, they have alternative cancer treatments. Or look it up on Cancer treatment of america.com, I hope this helps, good luck & give your mother my best wishes!
2 :
The answer to your question requires more information. What specific type of cancer did she have in the kidney? Did she have additional therapy at the time of diagnosis besides removal of her kidney? Have they done a biopsy to confirm that the areas of concern in her bone and liver are truly cancer? What do you mean by "effective"? If the cancer truly has spread, it is then metastatic and the prognosis is usually pretty bad. The therapy is usually directed at stopping the growth of the tumors and easing any pain. This can be accomplished with radiation and/or chemotherapy depending on the type of cancer. In most cases, there is no cure.
3 :
Liver cancer can be removed by surgery if it hasn't got too big. Otherwise they control it with chemotherapy.
4 :
Based on your description, your Mom's primary kidney cancer may have metastasized into her bones and liver. A pathological assessment of tissue from the effected areas and appropriate blood work may be the next steps. If indeed cancer is present at these sites, then it may be treated through surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or a combination of methods. Your Mom's oncologist will discuss her prognosis and treatment options with her. Best wishes to you and your family.
5 :
Hi, I don't know if this will help you but this site has a lot of articles about cancer.
6 :
OMFGZ!!! I LIKE FEEL SOO SORRY FOR YOU.
7 :
well she has chemo and radiation options but i won't lie to you it will just slow down the tumor ,she may also do paliative surgery if she is in pain to improve the general condition sorry for that read more about that here http://lungcancerdestroyer.blogspot.com/

I work for the American Cancer Society. Call 18002272345 to talk to someone about it 24/7. This is what we would talk to you about. Advanced Cancer: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/CRI_2_3x.asp?dt=79 Bone Metastasis: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/CRI_2_3x.asp?dt=66 Kidney Cancer: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/CRI_2_3x.asp?dt=22 Oh and by the way, not many people understand this but "no matter where a cancer may spread, it is always named for the place where it started. For example, breast cancer that has spread to the liver is still called breast cancer, not liver cancer. Prostate cancer that has spread to the bone is metastatic prostate cancer, not bone cancer." http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_1x_What_Is_Cancer.asp?sitearea= Just so you know not to look up info about liver cancer or bone cancer. You'll need to look at info about kidney cancer that has spread to those places. It's treated very differently than cancer that actually began in the liver or bone. Hope this helps.

Any experience out there with radiation seeds as a treatment for prostate cancer

Any experience out there with radiation seeds as a treatment for prostate cancer?
I have stage 1 cancer, Gleason scale is 6, PSA is 7. I have heard radiation seeds are quite effective with relatively few side effects for a cancer at this stage. any experience with it?

Obviously I have no personal experience with it, but many men have used them and been very happy with the results. Overall I would say the majority are happy with their decision. Before you decide get a second opinion from at least one more urologist. Treatment for prostate cancer is a personal one and there are more choices out there than most other cancers have. You may want a consult with a radiation oncologist as well as they would be the one doing the treatment. You should also consider proton therapy. Best wishes.
2 :
Not me , but my father in law. He swears by these seeds. In fact, I never heard about them until he told us. He had prostate cancer as well, stage 2. As soon as they got his PSA results, he was put in the hospital and under general anesthesia, they injected the radio active seeds directly into the tumor. They have to go through the rectum. Ouch, He said it didn't hurt after he woke. That's great. It seemed in no time the tumor was dissolved. He lives in Florida and called my husband with the good news less than a year ago that the tumor was gone. He has not had reoccurring cancer again. So if your Oncologist is suggesting for you, I say do it. My father in law is 83 and it worked. OK. Good luck and be well.
3 :
My psa was 377 and my gleason was 9 and a high stage 3. I could not use the seeds but did get 8 weeks of radiation. My current psa is .4. My older brother was very much like you in his score. His doctor used the seeds and he is cancer free after his 8 weeks of radiation. He told me he did not have many side effects. There will be some but not usually severe: problems urinating for a while but that resolves itself after a couple of weeks after treatment ends. You may also feel tired and worry a little. Talk with the doctor and I recommend going to a book store and buying a book called prostate cancer for dummies. Sounds silly but you will find a lot of use full information in it. Do not fear the cancer. At your stage there is no reason to not believe that you will be totally cured. By the way, after the radiation is done your first psa tast will not be for about a month. This is to allow the levels of radiation to normalize so as to get the best psa test score. You will be fine. Good luck to you. Remember---no fear.

what is the mechanism of aspirin in colon cancer treatment in women

what is the mechanism of aspirin in colon cancer treatment in women?

Aspirin works to thin the blood (improving circulation) and reduce localized pain.
2 :
Aspirin is an anti coagulant. It's used to keep the blood thin, however, if you are being treated for colon cancer, should you be taking aspirin? Only because of the bleeding that could occur while on it. Did your Dr advise you take it? It's also not good if you have small ulcers on your colon or in your stomach. Then the aspirin will cause terrible stomach upset. I'm really curious to know if your Dr told you to take it or if you're asking for yourself? Good luck and I wish you the best.
3 :
The treatment of colon cancer is no different in men and women and aspirin is not part of the treatment.
4 :
I not aware of using aspirin being used for colon cancer treatment. Could potentially be dangerous as a lot of chemo drugs can significantly decrease your platelet count. Add a drug that inhibits platelet aggregation could lead to disaster. Aspirin is used for reducing the risk of strokes and myocardial infarction.
5 :
I take a baby aspirin a day, as approved by my dr. I was not permitted, however, to take an aspirin product before my brain surgery or following, to reduce the risk of bleeding. It can be beneficial during chemo treatments, as some can cause blood clots. Hey Memere!

Who has info on the relation between in vitro fertilization treatment and breast cancer

Who has info on the relation between in vitro fertilization treatment and breast cancer ?
I had 2 children thanks to ivf treatment. I needed to take a lot of hormones. At the time, I never thought about possible consequences, but just recently I read an article warning about taking hormones during the menopause.... These hormones are less or more the same as the ones I took to get pregnant. So I kind of got scared. Anyone who has information about this ?

Hormones are a sensitive issue , everyone makes them at different levels , and we all react to them differently. It's what is in your own body chemistry that counts...your genes I mean. You give 10 people the same doses of the same hormones and you can come back with 10 different reactions. I say why waste your time worrying about something in witch you can't nor would take back ...you've two beautiful children from it , enjoy life seems to fly by . One day your slipping on your slippers to get out of bed to start breakfast & the house is empty. Belive me I know , Enjoy your babies , soon they'll have their own.I've 6 grand-children and love'em all of them to piece's ~
2 :
There is evidence that postmenopausal hormone replacement increases the risk of breast cancer. Since premenopausal women make their own estrogen, there is no evidence at this time that use of fertility medications increases the risk of cancer or other medical illnesses. As the medications used for fertility treatments have been FDA approved since approximately 1970, it is possible that more years of use are required to see long-term problems arise.

More here, about half way down: http://www.quackwatch.org/01QuackeryRelatedTopics/cancer.html

Simonw has given you the link I would have given you. It is an excellent site, and if ever you are curious about an alternative cancer 'treatment' you should do a search on Quackwatch first. If you do a search there for essiac you will find more articles about it. There is no evidence that essiac tea has any effect on cancer, and some evidence that it has no effect. Sadly wherever there's cancer there's an unscrupulous charlatan waiting to make money from people's desperation by selling bogus cancer 'treatments' and 'cures'. Essiac tea is one such scam.

I suspect she did "end of life", at the urging of Obama. His own words about the subject are the biggest tell. She knew the real story of his birth, and he did not not want that story on the tongues of the living. --- What happened to the 5 other answers?
