People like Johanna Budwig make wild and unproven claims and exploit the desperation of vulnerable people. There is no scientific evidence that any food, including cottage cheese, can affect the progress of cancer in any way. Yes, there are unsubstantiated testimonials on the internet; but you have no way of knowing if the person ever had cancer, much less that they have been cured. The plural of anecdote is not data. Unlike conventional treatments, this one has not been proven in clinical trials. Anyone who follows Johanna Budwig's recommendations will be investing time, money and hope in something that is not effective, as well consuming quantities of not very enjoyable food. Meanwhile, their tumours will be growing. A cancer patient who relied on cottage cheese and flax oil instead of conventional treatment would almost certainly die. The thing to bear in mind is that, in this context, 'alternative' is just another word for 'unproven'. If something had been proven to be effective against cancer, it would no longer be 'alternative medicine', it would just be medicine. The writer of the first answer would do well to bear that in mind too. S/he didn't actually need to tell us that s/he didn't have and hasn't got cancer - that's apparent from the nonsense s/he's posted. Cancer hobbyists - people who have no knowledge or experience of cancer, but become convinced that some bollocks they've read on the internet is the cure, are a pain on this board.

Budwig is usually a COMPLEMENTARY treatment for cancer patients if they decided to engage in complementary treatments. It's not meant to replace traditional treatements done by doctors. CAM procedures are created in hopes of improving the quality of life for a patient because often times treatment alone leaves a person miserable. There's lots of thoughts and ideas about how cancers should be treated, but the Budwig has not been proven as an actual CURE.
