Get on the net google Melanoma Cancer and medical expense help. Depending on where you live the hospitals have grants that they give to people to help cover the cost of surgery/treatments. But you have to ask. They dont let people know about the grants unless you ask. I wish you luck! Keep your head up!
2 :
american cancer society ,also see who the maker of the meds are and go to there web sites ,or you can talk to your husbands doctors and they have all kind of resorces to help .you can also get help through ppa ,partnerships for prescriptions . good luck , and dont worry things will work out for you god bless
3 :

What is the treatment for early stage cervical cancer

What is the treatment for early stage cervical cancer?
I had an abnormal pap smear and my doctor is having me wait six months to have another one done. If the next one is positive, I may have early stage cervical cancer. What treatments do they do in the early stages?

complete removal of the cancer, which is easy and safe
2 :
Hold on. EVERY woman has at least one abnormal pap in their life. If they thought it was cervical cancer, they would have tested and found it. Obviously they don't suspect it or didn't find it. If you aren't happy with that, then find another doctor and get tested again. You can always get a second opinion.
3 :
They do what is called cryosurgery - first they apply an acid (like vinegar) to the cervix to check for abnormal cells, and then remove the cells by freezing them off. Also called a culposcopy. I'm surprised your doctor is not doing at least the biopsy (vinegar) to check for abnormal cells (called cervical dysplasia). A positive pap does not necessarily mean that you have cancer. It means that abnormal cells have been detected. Cervical Dysplasia is the earliest precurser to cervical cancer, but it's not cancer. When it's caught and treated, you don't progress into cancer. I had grade 1 cervical dysplasia in the 1980's and had the cryosurgery. I've had negative pap smears ever since.
4 :
Years ago I had cauterization of the cervix for abnormal cells.

Does taking tamoxifen for breast cancer treatment induce cancer of the uterus

Does taking tamoxifen for breast cancer treatment induce cancer of the uterus ?
What are the side effects of Tamoxifen ? What body organs are affected with cancer after having breast cancer before it reaches your uterus ?
Cancer - 2 Answers

Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
Its advised to take Tamoxifen for 5 years as a treatment for breast cancer. After that there is a small chance of cancer in the uterus occuring. No other body organs are affected by the Tamoxifen only the uterus. If the breast cancer is hormone related, then Tamoxofen works by reducing the amount of oestrogen in your body, as the cancer cells feed on the eostrogen. Why the Tamoxifen should affect the uterus after 5yrs Im not sure, except that it is hormone related.
2 :
Why it decreases the incidence of breast cancer reoccurrence it increases your chances of developing uterine cancer. You need to have pelvic ultrasounds done and if there is any thickening of your uterus you will need to have an endometrial biopsy done. If you have any vaginal bleeding you must inform your oncologist so they can arrange a biopsy.. I had breast cancer and have pasted the 5 year mark with the tamoxifen and am now on femera. Along the way I have had 3 biopsy's done, all were negative.

What are the importance of studying Mitosis towards cancer treatment

What are the importance of studying Mitosis towards cancer treatment?
Can researches on Mitosis provide an idea on how to treat cancer?

1 :
Cancerous cells often have abnormalities (specific mutations) which interfere with the normal cell cycle. Often they don't stop dividing as a normal cell would because of a mutation in one or more genes which are involved in regulating the cell cycle. Apoptosis is another process known as programmed cell death. Normal cells live for a time then are replaced by new ones when they die. Cancerous cells sometimes do not die but again continue to divide crowding out normal cells. Look up Cdk/cyclins, p53.
2 :
Mitosis is a very important aspect of cancer research, because cancer cells divide pretty fast. For example, chemo drug will tend to block cancer cells in one stage of mitosis, causing them to die. Blocage to one stage in mitosis is an indication of how the chemo drugs work, which is not necessarily well known at the time of their discovery. And knowing how something works, it is much easier to make it work better. Another aspect of cell life which is very very important in cancer research is apoptosis, ie programmed cell death. This mechanism of protection of the body is often absent in cancer cells. Restoring this function might be a very good way to cure cancer.
3 :
It could. Cancer is all about cell reproduction. Of course, there are people smarter than me working on it

Are antioxidants good while undergoing cancer treatment, or bad

Are antioxidants good while undergoing cancer treatment, or bad?
I understand the good that antioxidants can do, but in protecting cells, do they also protect the cancer cells themselves from destruction by chemotherapy/radiation? Are things like green tea extracts, mushroom extracts, etc. good or bad during standard cancer therapy? I've read things on both sides, showing both points of view.

There is no such thing as standard chemotherapy. There are hundreds of chemo drugs and they are often used in various combinations. You cannot expect all the things that contain antioxidants to either be good or bad with hundreds of different drugs. This is why you should not take anything without talking to your oncologist first.

Your question is not clear. Among the best cancer treatment facilities for children with cancer in the US are the designated comprehensive cancer centers approved by the National Cancer Institute. Many of these facilities are world class cancer centers, tops in research and associated with universities or research hospitals. You can find a list of the cancer centers by state at NCI: http://cancercenters.cancer.gov/cancer_centers/cancer-centers-list.html Many of them are adult cancer centers but also are associated with children's cancer hospitals.
2 :
Mayo clinic, and the University of Minnesota cancer center are the two best ones in Minnesota. These are not JUST for children, but they are two of the best here in MN If you want a hospital just for children, try the Minneapolis children's hospital(great staff!)
3 :
I have included a link for the top hospitals in the country. Pediatric cancer is not separated, but it is once you clink on the hospital. http://www.usnews.com/directories/hospitals/index_html/specialty+ihqcanc

i had a question about medical marijuana and cancer treatment

i had a question about medical marijuana and cancer treatment?
one of my really good friends, who's 14, has leukemia... and was told that he needs to take marijuana for his cancer treatment... is marijuana supposed to help you if you have leukemia? and is it true that they give the marijuana when they know you're going to die pretty soon? will the marijuana help him live longer? please answer!! and tell me anything you might know about know about medical marijuana and if its supposed to help/harm your health in any way...

1 :
it's said that marijuana can help with the vomiting due to the chemotherapy. but idk about the living longer part. :/
2 :
it probably wont make him live longer, but it will make his daily life easier to deal with. marijuana is a pain killer and reduces nausea cause by chemo therapy. look up lester grinspoon's website and books for more info.
3 :
marijuana will do several different things. If he's on Chemo then it will offset a lot of the side effects. It will boost his appetite (which helps improve the immune system), it will reduce his pain if he has any, will help him fall to sleep. And in a few studies, has been shown to stop the spread of various cancers (I don't remember if leukemia was one). But they don't give it to almost dead patients, they give it to patients that don't need 30 different pills to take every hour. No Promises, but it might prolong him a few weeks if not months.
4 :
Let me just say in my cousins case for her eyes it helped. It had to do with cateracts and she still told to take it by a Doctor in Southern Cal.
5 :
medical marijuana actually inhibits cancer cell growth, which can reduce the aggressiveness of the cancer your friend has, and THC is found to kill leukemia cells
6 :
It wont help his health, but it will help a LOT with the side effects of his treatment. And no, it doesnt mean youre going to die if they give you marijuana. Millions of cancer patients use marijuana. It will help relieve his nausea and help him eat without being as medicated as the other meds they would use instead. He needs to know that marijuana falls into the neutropenic diet restrictions. If he does use, his doctors need to know and she needs to make sure he is checking his temp on a regular basis and other wise watching for signs of infection.
7 :
It has primarily been given to relieve pain (not necessarily just when someone is about to die) and to ease the nausea the cancer drugs cause. A lot of people on those drugs aren't able to keep food down which makes their body week- marijuana allows them to eat and gain that strength from it. There are studies coming out around the world that show it has cancer fighting properties. You can bet if I had cancer I'd be using copious amounts. Steve Kubby, a medical marijuana activist, has a rare type of adrenal cancer. He is only able to live because marijuana manages it. However we don't know enough about it's effects on cancer that's already pretty bad. I don't know enough about your friend's condition to tell you if it will help him live longer, but I hope so.
