It depends on the type of cancer and the stage at which it's diagnosed. For example, liver cancer is extremely deadly - and usually only diagnosed when it's too late. Death will be in a few weeks. Bowel cancer? Usually 4-6 months. And that's with treatment. Other cancers are slow-growing, and when discovered in someone of advanced age, the doctors may recommend no treatment because of the age of the patient.

I'm sorry, but the answer would depend on the type of cancer, how advanced it is, the health of the person, and their lifestyle. Some cancers are much more dangerous than others. Some cancers might be treatable or even reversed through lifestyle changes (I admit this would be extremely rare!) or alternative treatments, or simply by miracle of unknown origin. Cancer is no longer a death sentence in this day and age. Many ways of beating cancer exist. Not all treatments are frightening anymore.

It is very difficult to predict. Some cancers are very slow-growing, and not aggressive in nature. They can take many years to progress to the point where they would start to affect other organs and precipitate a medical crisis. Other cancers are VERY progressive and can travel through the body in a very short period of time, regardless of treatment. The only way a patient can get an idea of the prognosis with no treatment is to consult his/her oncologist about the type of cancer he has.

My son had a very aggressive type of sarcoma that was known to grow within 48 hours and could double, triple in size in 28 days. So . . it would depend on how aggressive the cancer is . . but . . some aggressive cancers . . without treatment . . days or a few weeks to a month. Remember that cancer refers to the uncontrollable growth of cells . . they will grow indefinitely if left untreated .. some types grow slow (30 years or more) while other types can grow rapidly and within days overwhelm the body.
