How is cobalt used in the treatment of cancer

How is cobalt used in the treatment of cancer?
I have a chemistry project and i chose cobalt as my element. in the project, we have to describe some of the important uses of our element. i have researched adn learned that cobalt-60 can be used in the treatment of cancer but could u please give me more info about this? do u have any good websites that could help me answer this question? no sarcastic or rude comments please cause this is for a grade. thanks!

Cobalt-60 used to be used for external beam radiotherapy to treat cancer, but now there are being replaced by linear accelerators in modern radiation oncology departments. However, it is used in a different way in Gamma Knife which is being used as stereotactic radiosurgery. It is marketed by Elekta. It'll take too long to explain here, so please google the above terms. I think this will be very interesting for your project.
