If your kid gets cancer do you have the right to refuse conventional cancer treatment

If your kid gets cancer do you have the right to refuse conventional cancer treatment?
Chemotherapy/Radiation etc are nothing but poison to the body. When you poison the immune system and irradiate tissues, you create physical imbalances which in turn can create cancer. This is the simple reason why so many people who subject themselves to conventional cancer treatments find themselves battling recurring cancer. Conventional cancer treatments are downright brutal and destroy the immune system. I strongly believe in prevention and alternative medicine, and living a pure and natural lifestyle with raw organic foods, so my family and I will probably never get cancer. But if me or my kids or wife ever got cancer I swear I would never subject myself or them to that torture just to please the big pharma companies which don't give a crap about people. They just care about their trillion dollar industry and keeping people brainwashed. My question is would a parent actually be legally allowed to say no to conventional cancer treatment if their kid got cancer? the alternative methods I've researched work better than any chemotherapy bullcrap, and I've talked to people who've done them Its only called "alternative" because the stupid medical association and pharmacutical companies surpress them and deny the fact that they actually work! And if my kids got cancer and I couldn't treat them they way I saw fit we would go to some country where we could.

Yeah.. It'd be child abuse, and you can be charged with murder & neglect if your methods do not work.

Shouldn't this be asked in the law category? I would think a parent would have the responsibility to do whatever was necessary to keep that child alive. Aren't some religions against medical treatment and when their children get sick and die they are held accountable? Thought that was in the news recently.

Your wonderful diet and lifestyle will do little to protect you or anyone else from cancer. There is also something very flawed in your research as once alternative treatments have proven they work they are no longer alternative. It is the nature of the disease which causes recurrence, not the treatment that prolonged the personĂ¢€™s life. To answer your question Ă¢€“ no you do not have the right to withhold treatment from your child and child protective services will prosecute, get a court order and take the child so they may be treated.

Yes, you have the right to refuse ANY medical treatment. However, once a child is admitted to the hospital, you're NOT allowed to leave "AMA" (against medical advice)...at least in the state of CA, and once your child is under a hospitals care, any proposed treatment being refused can be taken to the ethics committee to override a parents decision if they deem it to be in the best interest of the child. If you simply refuse to bring the child for treatment, it would be incumbent upon CPS or Child Welfare (once notified by a third party) to remove the child from the home and petition the court to intervene on behalf of the child.

you probably could say no but then you could be charged with child abuse and or neglect. any alternative medicine that works and is proven to work is no longer considered alternative. it is nice that you and your family lead a healthy life style- but that does not mean you are protecting yourself or anyone in your family. there is no known reason why one person gets cancer and another does not. also if your child is admitted to the hospital you can't deny treatment because then the child can be taken out of your custody.

A diet of natural foods is fantastic in the prevention of cancer, but will do diddly squat to eradicate it should cancer develop. I really think you need to trust your doctors - the professionals; the people that know a hell-of-a-lot more about medicine, cancer and chemotherapy than you. If you denied conventional treatment for your children, you'd probably be declared unfit to make decisions regarding the health of your child, and they'd be treated by necessity of sustaining their life. How many people have you heard of that survive cancer without conventional treatment?

The way you phrase your question, it seems as if your only source of information comes from websites/books that promote various alternative treatments. It is common practise for those to persuasively (almost) guarantee cancer cure even at stage IV, and portray conventional cancer treatment as ineffective and sheer evil. You might like to compare for yourself what you have been told about survival of childhood cancers with the actual survival statistics: http://info.cancerresearchuk.org/cancerstats/childhoodcancer/survival/ (The site is not sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry).

You're only "research" comes from natural news, try sciencebasedmedicine, quackwatch, and pubmed instead. And look at it this way, you can use all that money you saved on proper medical treatment for your child to get them a nice elaborate funeral!

Glad I'm not your kid, I'd like a chance at surviving in those circumstances. A relative of ours treated her mother with healthy alternative stuff all the way down until she died in pain. Good luck with the healthy lifestyle. Do hope you are not too disapponted when you get a cancer problem. Children's Aid will rescue your kid.

Chemotherapy isn't bullcrap (btw I was 16 when I went through a year of it). No amount of fruit veg and purified water (homeopathy) will save you if you get cancer, chemotherapy/radiotherapy could probably stop it if the cancer was found soon enough. If you denied your child conventional treatment which doctors argued was essential for the child's life you lose custody to the courts who would ensure your child came of none the worse for your being a psycho/total idiot.
