Has anyone ever heard of cancer vanishing without treatment

Has anyone ever heard of cancer vanishing without treatment?
If someone was diagnosed with even stage 1 cancer. What is the chances of the cancer just going away, without any treatment? Has anyone ever heard of any cases with an outcome such as this?

Spontanious remission. Rare, but it happens.
2 :
yah its rare, but it happens i heard stories like, this one person praying everyday for the cancer to go away, next check up, the cancer is gone
3 :
There is a condition called spontaneous remission . . it works the same way with many other diseases that seem to go away with no apparent reason. Think of it this way . . the overwhelming majority of time no one has a clue where the cancer came in the first place . . so for it to go away in the same manner in which it came . . what's so strange about that? Actually, there may be a scientific explanation for it . . even though it is spontaneous what it means is that the cancer cell has 'rediscovered' its switch and has turned the tumor off. The cancer cells than revert back to 'normal cells'. This is an area in which researchers are investigating a possible 'cure' for some types of cancer. If they can convince the cancer cells to stop mutating and stop their uncontrollable growth . . the cell turns 'normal' again. They are still along way off though from finding out how to do this with over 200 different cancers. They have recently been able to do this with Ewing's Sarcoma in the lab: Discovery Of The Cellular Origin Of Ewing's Sarcoma http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/05/070519152605.htm One of the reported examples of spontaneous remission recorded for cancer of cervix in Entrez Pubmed: Onkologie. 2006 Apr;29(4):159-61. Epub 2006 Mar 29. Links Spontaneous remission of metastases of cancer of the uterine cervix.Gaussmann AB, Imhoff D, Lambrecht E, Menzel C, Mose S. Abteilung Gynakologie und Geburtshilfe, HELIOS Klinik Huenfeld, Germany. Agaussmann@huenfeld.helios-kliniken.de BACKGROUND: Spontaneous remission (SR) is the complete or incomplete disappearance of a disease or cancer despite no or inadequate treatment. SR is a rare event, and only 5 cases of SR of carcinoma of the uterine cervix have been reported so far. CASE REPORT: We report the case of a young woman suffering from carcinoma of the uterine cervix metastasized to the lung, pleura, bone, skin and brain. The primary tumor was removed. After diagnosis of the histologically proven metastases, further palliative treatment was inadequate, except for radiotherapy to the brain. In all other metastases, spontaneous remission occurred. 8 years after the initial diagnosis of metastasis, there is no evidence of active disease. CONCLUSION: SR is a rare but evident phenomenon. Individual features of malignant tumors should be taken into account much more when determining the best treatment for the patient. PMID: 16601372 [PubMed - indexed for MEDLINE]

My aunt was recently diagnosed with breast cancer she is 62 yrs old. My aunt and uncle retired last year (my uncle is 64) and don't have health insurance, and don't know how they are going to pay for the chemo and radiation treatments. I'm doing research trying to find a way to help them out. So any info you can give me will help me. Thank You

Apply for Medicaid. Even if they wouldn't usually qualify, they have a program for patients who need therapies that pay for treatment that exceeds their income. They sound like they may qualify for Medicare, which is for retired folk.
2 :
any hospital that accepts government money ( not private) has to see her and treat her there are many cancer centers that have programs for people with no insurance . they can not turn you away because you have no insurance
3 :
contact st. judes hospital on their web site. they will give u info that u need. good luck & GOD BLESS U.
4 :
Apply for AARP.I have it even though I am only 39 b/c of health problems.Try for medicaid. Also have her apply for disability,I know it takes a while b/c I am disabled myself. But while she is fighting this cancer, her lawyer can fight for her disability.Get a lawyer that gets paid only if you win.Try Cancer Centers of America, they have a financial plan and goes by your income,I think. They are the best cancer centers. God bless
5 :
There is a much cheaper and better way to fight cancer. Read the cancer testimonials on my blog roll and web blog. Save her life and thousands of dollars :)
6 :
Talk to the financial dept. at the hospital they are going to use to do the treatments at. A lot of hospitals have a cushion built in for cases like your aunt's. I know. I had to go thru chemo a few months ago for ovarian cancer, and the hospital I chose wrote every treatment off 100% because we had no insurance or money to pay for it. Chemo is very expensive. They will need to provide financial information, but they should qualify. The last thing they need to be worried about now is how they're going to pay for it. Your aunt's health is more important than any amount of money in the world. God speed to them!
7 :
Go to a major university hospital. They should have a free clinic with a social worker who will help your aunt apply for medicare/medicaid/social security disability and she will get the treatment she needs in a timely manner. Hospitals are ALL federally subsidized and they get tax money to treat indigent patients.
8 :
Visit my website check out the testimonials www. zeolitesfordetox.com/ davidlawrence email for more info I would love to know if I have helped davrlaw@yahoo.com
9 :
another option would be to contact Susan G Komen Org. nearest your home, or the American cancer Society for advice. You can always try to contact the drug manufactures also. Good luck and don't give up!

How long after someone is diagnosed with breast cancer do they start treatment

How long after someone is diagnosed with breast cancer do they start treatment?
So my ex just told me that she has breast cancer, but she is coming to the states (from Spain, shes spanish) for a few months for a job and then planning on going back to school to san diego in august. Shouldnt she stay in Spain to get treatment right away? Thank you.

1 :
yes she should. usually a treatment plan is started right away, whether its surgery, chemo or radiation.
2 :
Typically as soon as possible. However, delaying a few months should not change things too much.
3 :
maybe she will get treatment in usa although I heard in Europe doctors/hospitals can treat it much better so.....yes I quess if her blood isnt too bad she could start chemo asap or have surgery...it all depends on what stage she is in and if she WANTS treatment,it will be her choice afterall whether she is your ex or current lover...it doesnt matter, she is an adult and can do or not do any of those options.Wish her well
4 :
The sooner you treat cancer (or anything for that matter) the better your results. Cancer, for the most part, is treated the same way in the USA and Europe. They will probably want to do some combination of surgery, chemo and radiation in the course of her treatment. My question would be her health care coverage and how, when and where she will be treated. If she has insurance here in the states, great. I know nothing about the health care system in Spain. Cancer treatment isn't cheep or free......
5 :
It varies depending on the health facilities accessible. She should be undergoing talks over treatment immediately but depending on the health facilities she has access to it may take a while (max 1-2months) before treatment starts. If she Private Health Insurance it should start right away and the fund may then pay for further treatment while she is in the States. It also varies depending on the treatment she has (chemotherapy, radiotherapy and/or surgery) whether she can travel or not. I'd talk to her about it a bit more so that if your still willing to help her out you can organise hospitals, doctors etc. So overall, I'd probably talk to her.

Who surveys and accredits cancer treatment programs and provides guidelines for cancer registries

Who surveys and accredits cancer treatment programs and provides guidelines for cancer registries?

Cancer - 1 Answers

1 :
If you are referring to who accredits and surveys hospitals with cancer programs that is the American College of Surgeons. Each state has their own regional registry that all the hospital registries are responsible to and they provide our standards, continuing education, etc. There are also standards everyone must follow regardless of profession such as staging, histology codes, patient̢۪s privacy rights, etc. and there are different agencies that determine these standards.

Probably City of Hope in Duarte
2 :
Caiser Permanente. My mom had to go through that and she went to the Caiser in San Rafael. They have very good doctor. He took care of my mom.
3 :
Stanford Hospital looks like an excellent choice for your dad. Here's some information about prostate cancer research and treatment: http://cancer.stanford.edu/male/ Perhaps your dad may want to consider enrolling in a clinical trial. Best of luck for you, your dad and the rest of your family.
4 :
UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. They are ranked #9 in the nation for cancer treatment.
5 :
you want the best care? Are you planning to treat the cancer with chemo therapy? Well all I can tell you is that it is not the best care! Chemo attacks the cancer cells, but it also weakens the immune system. The immune system is made up of white blood cells and lymph nodes responsible for cracking down the code makeup of foreign cells in order to destroy them. Right now we all have an immune system eating cancer cells (foreign cells) in our bodies. Cancer is therefore supposed to be rare - in the past it was. Today it's just another big part of the health care industry. If you want to help your father, tell him to eat raw, nutritious fruits/veges that help strengthen his immune system. And lay off foods that stresses his body (like chicken, pork, beef, milk, sweets, and fattening foods). In eating the right foods the toxins that was built up in his body will be released by the liver and excreted when he sweats through exercising and/or go to the bathroom. And with a strong immune system the cancer growth will be attacked to the point where it will disappear. He has to use his immune system to get rid of this foreign cell. chemo Therapy is toxic and is not guaranteed. He has a better chance leaving it to his immune system. But he must strengthen it.
6 :
UCLA is rated one of the top in the nation. MD Anderson hospital in Houston is the best in the nation hands down.

The USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center is a great start. Another great choice would be Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Beverly Hills (www.csmc.edu). Both have top-notch doctors and state-of-the-art care. Best Wishes!

I was treated for stage 3A endometrial cancer at UC Davis Cancer Center in Sacramento. They have an excellent oncology depatment there and if there is any question along the way they don't hesitate to send you to a specialist. I was treated with both chemo and radiation there and everyone was very nice. Highly recommended!

what percent of breast cancer treatment goes to doctors

what percent of breast cancer treatment goes to doctors?
Say for example when someone undergoes chemotherapy, what percent or about how much will their doctor profit from that one patients medical bill?

I don̢۪t understand your question. Are you asking: What percentage of treatment is given to patients who are physicians? What percentage of the treatment is given by physicians? What?
2 :
If you mean, how much $ raised for cancer treatment goes to the doctors, they get paid the going rated by the insurance companies. Chemotherapy medications can be very expensive so the pharmeceutical companies take a big chunk, also because their research is costly. A vial of the drug Neupagen, which is frequently administered to cancer patients to help raise white blood count is $1,000.00!

What is a less toxic alternative to Chemo therapy for breast cancer treatment in a woman

What is a less toxic alternative to Chemo therapy for breast cancer treatment in a woman?

Cancer - 3 Answers

1 :
Do some research or talk to a doctor about the drug Herceptin by Genentech. It's a relatively new cancer drug to fight breast cancer and they have seen good success. I'm not sure if it's used in combination or instead of chemo though. http://www.gene.com/gene/products/information/oncology/herceptin/index.jsp
2 :
To be honest, chemotherapy is not a cancer treatment. Here is the situation. Chemo can take care of the problem right away, but the doctor always says that, some can live an extended 2 years, or 3 years. And some die right away from the chemicals. This is with late stages of cancer. Now, for early stages, it helps the problem but your health is deteriorated. They say that chemo affects the cancer and your normal body cells. How many people you know, who have had late stages of cancer, and lived through it pass 5 yours with chemo therapy? I bet you that you have never even heard of it. Even if someone has, how many people is that compared to that masses? The problem with other medicines is that the pharmaceautical companies cannot control that product. What if it was tree bark say for instance. How many people do you know will buy the pills if they can just walk up to any tree and bite a piece off to save themselves? See? So, USA doctors are familiar with these remedies, but they do not talk about it. Try asking your doctor about green algae, or cesium chloride, or paw paw, etc etc. Then they start to talk. Otherwise, they wont say a word. And if you dont know, how can you ask? So, the doctors lips are sealed tight. The individual doctors on the other hand are sometimes scared to talk about it. It is because, if they open their mouths, they would be facing the whole medical community. Alot of them go into the medical field to help people, and some go in it for money. But, the top ranking ones in control are all in it for money. If not, they would have never gotten their position. I do not suggest you go with chemo therapy. You can look up some alternative medicine to cancer and they are all over the place on the net. The best ranked one is cesium chloride, paw paw, and along with others. Some health websites even have a place where you can go and tell them your stage of cancer and which type of cancer, and they will sell you a package based on your individual problem. There are also some doctors scattered all over the USA who specialize in cancer. You never hear about them right? Well, they wont be bothered by the medical community if they do a small operation without much advertising. But, they all report about 90% survival rates on cancers that regular cancer doctors give up on. And if that doctor didnt give up, do you expect to live anyways? No. I speak out to you because I dont want you to die like the two of my friends who have already died. Certain doctors even said that they could cure it with 80% survival rate. But, I didnt have the money to help them. So, I am speaking out in hopes that nothing happens to you and you survive. Regardless of your stage of cancer. Cesium chloride is what works best. Look it up, its everywhere. Even oxygen drops help. You can use them both at the same time. The thing is with these alternatives is that, some of them make you feel extremely bad at the beginning, but after a while you get used to it, and then you are gone with the cancer before you know it. So dont feel discouraged. Oxygen drops keep cancer from growing because your body can live with more oxygen. As a matter of fact, it helps circulate your blood. Cancer cannot live at the sight of oxygen. It has been said that not enough oxygen is what causes cancer. I dont know what the cause is, because there are many causes. But, cesium chloride and oxygen drops will take care of it. And one more thing, some of these remedies cannot be sold as a cancer treatment. So, they are sold as vitamins. But, in their website, they are allowed to say what it cures. But, their labels cannot say a word about cancer. So, you should start in the vitamin section of the internet. Good luck my friend.

I have heard recently that brachetheropy is now or will be soon a viable solution for breast cancer. It has been used on prostate cancer with astounding success and it is praised for its relatively noninvasive procedure. Also it has less of the chemo side effects if none at all. I am no longer too sure on the particulars so I will list some cource information.
