Probably. There is a risk of impotence when doing surgery on the prostate etc, but a good chance that plumbing will still work as advertised.
2 :
I had prostate cancer but I had radioactive seed implants. I've had no side effects and still have sex. I'm 62. I would check into the seeds before surgery.
3 :

This is the wrong place to do your research. You will get a lot of answers some of them totally wrong, some right. Your best place to start is the American Cancer Society. www.cancer.org.
2 :
Go to the website the first person suggested. That is the only place to get accurate information.
3 :
Cancer occurs when you have enlarged cells
4 :
what you a eat went I have colon cancer
5 :
Cancer is a disease when abnormal cells in a part of the body begin to grow out of control to form a tumor and it starts to spreads to other parts of the body and organs through the blood and lymph nodes. The most common treatments for cancer is Surgery, chemotherapy and Radiation therapy.
6 :
There are HUNDREDS of types of cancer and there is cancer of just about every body part and organ in the body. You can start at the ACA website, www.cancer.org or you can google 'types of cancer' and pick one and go from there. The treatment of just about ALL cancers is chemotherapy or radiation treatment either though external radiation or internally implanted radiation seeds. Then there is surgery to remove the cancerous portion of the body but chemo and radiation are still involved either before or after the surgery.
7 :
i beleave that cancer is a skin condition, that is beleaved to be uncontrolable skin growth that can kill u, that is ho w it was described, but i dont have any sources and i dont know how true taht is
8 :
Go to the American Cancer Society website which the first person suggested. There's a lot of factual information there. You can also try the http://www.cancerdoubts.com website. It's got an explanation of cancer in laymen terms.

Has anyone ever been to cancer treatment centers of america? if so how was your experience

Has anyone ever been to cancer treatment centers of america? if so how was your experience?
My mother was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma a few weeks ago, she has an 11.6 centimeter mass on her left kidney. She was hospitalized last weekend because they gave her morphine for pain, it dropped her blood pressure extemely low. That is when we found out the cancer had spread to other organs (liver, pancreas, lymph nodes and stomach) the doctors said she would only make it a few weeks to a month. That is when I looked into this cancer center, her insurance has been approved and they want to schedule her flight asap. I just want to know if anyone out there has had good results with ctca? I have a friend who goes with her mother who had breast cancer metasis to her liver and bone who goes to ctca and she said they were great. Are they as wonderful as my friends mom says? My mom is also doing better now, she's home from the hospital and she's not as weeks and she's eating . My mom says she's ready to fight this.

GO THERE. they are no doubt the best. my mother goes to the one in zion IL, (chicago). the only problem is they dont do ortho (bones and stuff) or neuro (brain) ad thats what shes got now. the cancer spread from lung cancer, it has metastized 5 times already. if we could go back to ctca we would, but they cant treat what she has. CTCA is the best place, when you go there it is full of hope and it doesnt even seem like a hospital! transport service is amazing! they transport you in a Limo!!! i hope the best for your mom, i'll pray for her.

How has the treatment of breast cancer evolved over the past 10 years

How has the treatment of breast cancer evolved over the past 10 years?
So i am writing an research paper on how the treatment of breast cancer evolved over the past 10 years.I've looked on most breast cancer history sites and i can't find much. mostly surgery was the most effective way.Can anyone suggest sites please Thanks

I think with breast cancer more of the recent improvements have come in the screening techniques. Many more women are being diagnosed at early stages, then say 15-20 years ago. This is due to self-awareness, as well regular check-ups. At early stages, breast cancer is almost always curable.
2 :
Surgery is still the most effective way. The only significant changes close to the 10 year mark would be the use of immunohistochemistal evaluation of lymph nodes and BRCA 1 and 2 testing is more common now. Digital mammograms used now are better.
3 :
Avastin is an anti-angiogenic drug used to slow tumor growth of metastatic breast cancer. It was first approved for metastatic bowel cancer but gained FDA approval a couple of years ago for metastatic breast cancer. Trials are underway for use in patients with non-metastatic breast cancer. This is just one example of the many treatment gains of the last ten years, but it should get you a couple of extra paragraphs. ;)

I had breast, thyroid, skin cancer. My cancer doctor told me at the beginning that there is a state program that will cover all treatments. All she has to do,is send in a short form. This program is for no health insurance at all. My insurance covered most, but the co-pays for treatments, med took me broke. It is now years since treatments stopped.Still take meds.Lots of tests and still paying on bills from before.I looked every where trying to get help with the bills.Came up with none thing. At least they are good about you sending them what you can each month,I send 10-25 dollars on a 800 bill. Sorry about your cancer problem, wish I could help more.Donna
2 :
you could put together a group and ask people to give a little to help. or you could see what there is from the American Cancer Society or the Susan G. Komen foundation ( http://www.komen.org/ )

When you refuse the diagnosis and treatment of cancer・・・・

When you refuse the diagnosis and treatment of cancer・・・・?
Does it correspond to the suicide, judging from a spiritual viewpoint, you refuse the diagnosis and treatment of cancer?

Ceiling Cat gave up on you years ago. Give him some Holy Catnip and maybe he'll reconsider.
2 :
no because "god" will magically heal you.
3 :
no it means someone wishes to be in control of their own body ... which includes how they die
4 :
If you refuse getting a diagnoses, how would you know if you even have cancer?
5 :
Nope. Since suicide, by definition, is death by your own action. Letting a deadly disease run it's course is not suicide. Sorry. Nice try though.
6 :
I think it would be a bad idea to refuse something that'll help you in the long run.
7 :
wtf
8 :
Dude those people who refuse to seek treatment are either going to live or die.
9 :
No, it doesn't. It's up to each person to decide what kind of medical treatment is right for his life. Sometimes, the treatment may prolong life but give it a lousy quality. It's wise to weigh the options and pluses and minuses.
10 :
no
11 :
i don't think it would be considered suicide
12 :
No, as sometimes the treatment kills, too.
13 :
My Dad accepted the diagnosis, but rejected the treatment prescribed for his cancer. He was not suicidal. He was practical. He was 76 when he was diagnosed. He asked himself, "At 76, how much longer am I going to live anyway?" He chose to live his final years without the sickness and hair loss of Chemo and Radiation Therapies. He was 88 when he died from metastatic cancer.

Where are we on the road to a cure / very successful treatment of cancer

Where are we on the road to a cure / very successful treatment of cancer?
I know that all forms of cancer are different, and that it's impossible to tell when, exactly -- or if -- a cure / highly successful treatment will be found. But, can someone take a stab at where we are? Are we getting closer, or still completely out in the open? Have they found any particularly promising treatments that could eventually develop into a cure? I guess, in general.. are we making progress, or at a standstill?

I have not seen any documentaries lately. But that last one I saw indicated that prevention of cancer in each organ will probable be the first break through. (Currently, Mega doses of Vitamin D have looked promising in preventing cancer in about 3 organs. My doctor is nuts for Mega doses of Vitamin D (not just for Calcium absorption anymore) If you Google Vitamin D research, you may be shocked. (Vitamin D helps us in about 50 different ways)
2 :
There is research everyday, that is getting us closer, to the more heard about cancers, unfortunatly the rare ones are not as close, which is sad. So if you get Cancer hope for one a lot of people get. Thanks to the brillant scientist, doctors, reasearch techs, pharmacies, and devoted rally donations, we will have the most edgy treatments, lord knows we have saved more people in the last 10 years then ever. Never think it is at a stand still, this is a passionate illness, and there is always someones trying to find the cure.
3 :
There will always be cancer for that is the way some cells change. Not all people get to the doctor early enough for the cures that may be developed. Having a vaccine for cancer would help, but with so many types of cancer, targeting one at a time would be hugely expensive. The most interesting cure may be with gene cures, which are now being developed. There are cures being worked on , but I fear cancer will ALWAYS be with us, no matter what we develop. How could you give everyone in the world a vaccine, even if we had one? Even with the disease we cured in this country with vaccines, the diseases show up in undeveloped countries because they do not have the preventative programs we do. I'd say we're making progress...slowly.

Is Chris Dodd going to the Uk or Canada for cancer treatment

Is Chris Dodd going to the Uk or Canada for cancer treatment?
From what I hear they have a wonderful healthcare system.

In 7 months...
2 :
We actually have the best in the World
3 :
Of course not, UK and Canada's health care sucks. People need to realize that senators such as Dodd would still receive top of the line health care even if Obama's health care passes.
4 :
He doesn't need to. He has a good insurance plan. I agree that the UK and Canada have wonderful health care. And at a far lower price. We should be using them as a model.
5 :
no but he should go to Cuba
6 :
Yeah. He needs to go now so he can be treated in 6 months to a year.
7 :
It would be interesting to see the world as it appears to you, a dimly lit world where ignorance, stupidity and superstition rule. A world where logic breaks down, much like the laws of physics do at the event horizon of a black hole.
8 :
No he will be treated by the best doctors in the world, right here in the United States of America and he will use his Premium Health Care that my taxes pay for, but notice that they want us to be on the public dole with inferior healthcare siting the UK and Canada! How outrageous! This is a ruse, a lie, and we will be the recipiants of the worst healthcare system if the government gets into it, and also Seniors will be expendable, they will be denied operations that would save their life...as a cost saving procedure...so Seniors better rise up and fight this, and write to their congressmen and senators about this. Obama says we can keep our own doctor, not so..we will lose our freedom of choice..
9 :
Obviously not, but if he supports Obamacare, he & every single fed should be forced to give up FEHBP (Federal Employee Health Benefits Plan). No exceptions - even BO himself.
