It really is impossible to answer your question because there are many different types and severity of breast cancer and costs vary by country.
3 :
We have kept very accurate records.... All doctors visits, all tests and labs, 27 weeks of chemotherapy, surgery (mastectomy, with overnight hospital stay) radiation including all doctors visits. On the west coast: $300,000 + Depending upon the stage of the cancer you may not need everything we had done.
4 :
The answer varies tremendously based on: 1) What country the treatment is performed in 2) Stage of cancer 3) What type of surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, and follow-on medications are used An early stage cancer, not requiring expensive imported drugs, that is treated in China or India might cost US$10,000 to $20,000. However, 2nd or 3rd stage cancer treated in the USA could easily cost US$200,000 to $300,000. Treatment in America is ridiculously expensive, but their outcomes are no better and sometimes worse than in other countries. Cancer is an open-ended illness. A patient's cancer may be successfully treated today, but it could return in another year, so plans must be made to pay for possible future treatment.

Where is the best cancer treatment center for adult rhabdomyosarcoma? My father is in stage 4 of this cancer

Where is the best cancer treatment center for adult rhabdomyosarcoma? My father is in stage 4 of this cancer.?
My father was just diagnosed. It's metastasized to lungs from a tumor that developed on his leg muscle (lateral tibia). Everybody in the family is doing research on the web looking for the best options for treatment.

stage 4..... its too late.... he is going to die sooner or later
2 :
mayo clinic hope he has excellent insurance and the money to cover the gaps in coverage follow the link below good luck At least 100 thousand dollars of cash on hand is going to be needed mayo is the best and most expensive in the country people from all over the world fly for their services.
3 :
If you don't find your answer on the web, call one of these and ask: M D Anderson Cancer Center Sloan Kettering Cleveland Clinic Fred Hutchinson You need a major cancer clinic. These are among the best. Geography may influence your choice but do go to the center that is specializing in his type of cancer.
4 :
Stage 4 is pretty late. There is something you could try. It hasn't been scientifically proven but it wouldn't hurt to try. Cooked asparagus has many antioxidants and is suppose to be good with helping cancer. I've heard it's a hoax but a good diet could help. Though the best cancer treatment hospital in the US is Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. But do get him on a diet with high antioxidants and cancer preventing agents. Many veggies and fruits have it.
5 :
He needs to be treated at a center that sees a lot of this type of cancer. No one hospital is the best. Major teaching centers such as Mayo, Anderson, Sloan-Kettering, etc are a great start. Having said that, a patient is stage 4 doesn't have good odds at living very long. Your family needs to talk about this possibility. Depending on what the oncologist (cancer doc) says, palliative care (to keep him comfortable, not cure) may be best, Hope & pray for a miracle, but also be realistic. Best of luck.
6 :
It's never too late! Don't listen to other people's OPINIONS. I had this cancer twice in 1998 and a reoccurance in 2000. Was given about a month with 0% chance. I was treated at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD. You can contact them to see if they have a protocol for your father. Go to www.nih.gov and click on clinical trials. My local oncologist referred me to them. Things have come a long way since I was last treated...so don't give up! If I can make it, your dad can too! I will keep him in my prayers.

Is it illegal for a company to fire someone/cancel insurance for taking off work to get cancer treatment

Is it illegal for a company to fire someone/cancel insurance for taking off work to get cancer treatment?
My friend just got cancer and requested a day off of her work to go get a mandatory treatment. They denied her request. If she takes off anyway, can they fire her and cancel her insurance?

My suggestion would be to call the Dept of Labor. Does she have a good attendance record with her employer? I was always told employer's didn't have to have a reason to fire someone. She also needs to read the company policy & rules, if this is not specified in the policy, she would probably have a case.
2 :
i need more info. something is missing, company policy, type of work, insurance info. work history of your friend. i am not going to assume facts not in evidence and say yes or no. is she an at-will employee? is she under contract? is she freelance? too much is missing, your to vague
3 :
FMLA- Family Medical Leave Act. It's cancer, she should be covered under Federal Protection. Only problem she has to use all of her vacation days except for like one, then it becomes unpaid leave. She should lose her insurance, as long as she can pay the monthly dues, I believe.... HOpe she goes into remission.
4 :
Wouldn't they love to! Fire her! Cancer treatment is very expensive, and their insurance company doesn't like to put that money out! Does she have vacationdays or sick days coming to her? Legally, they can't stop her from using them. What's their policy on someone calling in sick?? They don't fire the person, do they?? She should arm herself with a doctor's note about the treatment, and to cover herself, talk to an attorney! It is not a work related illness, and she is NOT faking being sick! If she decides to forego the treatment because she's afraid of loosing her job, she is only signing her own death warrant! See an attorney ASAP!

Contact Gary Null Associates... http://www.garynull.com They can point you in the right direction. Edit: Gary Y - Dr Luc Montagnier is the person who along with Robert Gallo supposedly "discovered" HIV... right? Here's Dr. Montagnier - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQoNW7lOnT4 Is he a quack? All modern medicine does is match symptoms to pharmaceutical drugs and doctors are compensated for pushing untested drugs. NOW THAT'S QUACKERY! If Gary Null was such a "quack", why isn't he in jail? I can tell you! It is because when he speaks about alternative and natural cures, he always does it while showing Citations from the Peer Reviewed Medical Journals. He uses documentation from those who say it's quackery, showing that they themselves do the studies and publish the findings. So who's the REAL quack? It's could be you! And the biggest hypocrite of them all, the quack - Steven Barrett. He's not even what he claims to be! He's not even board certified and he lied about it. Is this who we're supposed to trust?
2 :
Alternative cancer treatment centers are only going to take his money; they will not be able to offer anything other than that. Cancer quackery is rife; you need to be extremely skeptical when considering it, and do not apply much value to anecdotes. It is the scientific data that counts. Please read: "Alternative medicine: Evaluate claims of treatment success" http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/alternative-medicine/SA00078 "A Special Message for Cancer Patients Seeking "Alternative" Treatments" http://www.quackwatch.com/00AboutQuackwatch/altseek.html Best wishes. PS: Gary Null is a classic example. He is an anti-vaccine activist and a denier of HIV as the cause of AIDS. Total whackjob. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gary_Null#Criticisms ------- EDIT: @NA, 'alkalize his body' - this is more quackery. How do you propose this is done? Regardless of what you eat, your blood pH will range between 7.35 and 7.45. If you could raise it to 8.5, severe metabolic alkalosis (ie; blood pH >7.55) would set in and could be fatal. ------- EDIT: @Sensei, by invoking Dr Luc Montagnier, you are arguing from authority; that does not mean Gary Null is not a quack. And in this case, you are actually arguing from false authority. Even though Dr Montagnier is a Nobel Prize winner and is attributed with the discovery of the link between HIV and AIDS, that does not mean he is always right. In fact, most of his colleagues have disowned him now after many outlandish statements, for example: “French virologist Luc Montagnier stunned his colleagues at a prestigious international conference when he presented a new method for detecting viral infections that bore close parallels to the basic tenets of homeopathy. Although fellow Nobel prize winners -- who view homeopathy as quackery -- were left openly shaking their heads, Montagnier's comments were rapidly embraced by homeopaths eager for greater credibility. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news/health-science/nobel-laureate-gives-homeopathy-a-boost/story-e6frg8y6-1225887772305 You said: “All modern medicine does is match symptoms to pharmaceutical drugs and doctors are compensated for pushing untested drugs. That is a bald faced lie, typical of fundamentalist alt med fanatics and conspiracy theorists who invoke such rubbish when pressed for evidence for whatever quackery they are promoting. If you think I’m wrong please post your hard evidence that proves otherwise. Dr Steven Barrett, did not lie about his credentials as you suggest. This is well known and is even more fundie BS. The fact that Gary Null is not in Jail does not mean he is not a quack. Where did you get that from? He does not support what he says/sells with proper peer reviewed scientific data, otherwise he would not be selling ‘magnetic bras’. He is a master snake oil salesman and you can’t see it. Clearly you are a very credulous person who is getting your information from crank websites, and falling for their scam nonsense hook, line and sinker. The problem is, people like you come websites like this and pass on quack bullshit to innocent people with real health concerns.

I think that your family needs to accept the fact that your uncle has a terminal illness and he is not going to get any better. With his cancer being so far advanced and spreading everywhere, it's time to stop trying to make him better and try to make him as comfortable as possible until it comes to the end for him. Why drag him around to doctors, treatments, hospitals when all they are going to do is to cause him a lot more discomfort and not help him at all. All it will do is cause more stress to him and take more money from him. The people that can help him is Hospice. They are wonderful and will do everything possible to make him comfortable until the end. They are experts in knowing what to do and what to expect. They help both the patient and the families get through this terrible time of losing someone. Call them instead of trying to find a cure for his cancer. I don't know of any survival stories from anyone having as much cancer as your uncle. His doctors are probably right in their estimate of the time he has left. My brother had cancer like your uncle and lived 6 weeks.
4 :
Your uncle needs a miracle. Western medicne has nothing to help him. You have nothing to lose to try and alkalize his body to 8.5 for a few days., to kill the cancer. You are probably a troll 'doctor' anyway trying to set someone up, at this site., anyway. If not, I wish you and yours well.

How much does cancer treatment - radiation therapy, cost

How much does cancer treatment - radiation therapy, cost?
My grandma has cancer and I need to know how much does cancer radiation treatments cost? Thank you!! She is in Russia and I need an approximate cost of this treatment to see if I should bring her here, to the United States, Florida. She has no insurance. I just need an approximate cost to see if we can afford it or if she should do it in Russia. Thank you!

Price is not even a consideration. If she needs radiation she should get it. Maybe she has insurance. Are you her caregiver? I doubt anyone can give you a true price for a life. It's different for every person who has radiation treatments. EDIT: It will cost you a minimum of thousands and thousands of dollars if you are going to pay it yourself. You need to know more about what kind of treatment she needs. It's impossible to give you an estimate. I think your grandmom would be better off staying in her familiar surroundings. She needs treatment. She could be getting it.
2 :
You should get your grandmother's medical records translated and take them to a major hospital centre. The big places have an office to help international patients. You can usually get an opinion based on scans and records.

What would be involved in bringing in a relative from another country for cancer treatment

What would be involved in bringing in a relative from another country for cancer treatment?
I have a 16 month old cousin in Bangladesh who was recently diagnosed with cancer. The quality of health care there is very poor. I would appreciate any information on how to go about bringing them into the country in order for the child to receive proper medical treatment. Would immigration officials look at this as a special case in circumlocuting the standard immigration process?

you could try there and also call your congressman to helpyou.
2 :
yes you could try your congressman. i had a Friend who s brother had cancer, she ask the embassy to help her to bring her brother home to america for help. they agreed to help her and get him to america, but as they were waiting for the proper channels to get him home he didn t make it. but what i am saying is i think the embassy where they are is the best assurance for help.
3 :
Write your congressman and the President of the United States.
4 :
Most major US medical centres have a department to help people coming to the US for medical care. This would not be immigration, just a temporary permission. Here's an example: http://www.mgh.harvard.edu/international/english.htm

The only way to verify any type of 'cancer treatment' as being effective is through documented scientific evidence. There is no other way. No 'word of mouth'. Testimonials are inconclusive and can change at a whim . . they are totally unreliable. Check with Entrez Pubmed for research.
2 :
Any treatment claiming to cure cancer can be considered a fraud. Cancer is not one disease and cannot be treated as one disease. Each cancer is a specific set of genetic mutations at a certain cell type.

Cancer treatment

Cancer treatment?!?
My mom was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer last april. She's gone through chemo and radiation but now is on all sorts of drugs. One drug, "Chantix" is to help her quit smoking and the others are to keep the cancer from coming back. She's taking Armidex to keep the cancer from coming back and Clonidine to help with the side effects from the Armidex. The drug label says that if she misses more than two doses it can lead to heart attack or stroke!!! She says she'd rather smoke marijuana like in the old days because all this stuff is so scary. I appreciate any advice and information. Thanks!!!

What a terrible predicament to be in. When I lived in Korea I was introduced to a lady hwo had been cured of breast cancer by her friend. The lady had been sent home from hospital with no hope of a cure. Her friend made her eat tomatoes at every meal. 2kg of tomato a day is a lot, but after a couple of months she was getting better. After 6 months the doctors could find no trace of the cancer. No-one can guarantee anything, maybe it works for only some people and some conditions, but tomato does contain a carotenoid called lycopene that has known activity preventing prostate, colon and breast cancers. Obviously, in at least one case it has caused a cure. This is the only reference I have. Good luck to your Mum.

Hi, Have you ever heard of Goji Juice? Patients receiving a cancer drug together with goji exhibited response rates up to 250 percent better than those obtained by the drug alone. These advanced cancer patients experienced amazing regressions of malignant melanoma, renal cell carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, lung cancer, nasopharyngeal carcinoma and malignant hydrothorax. Remission of cancers In patients treated with goji lasted significantly longer than those treated without goji. dhemi@comcast.net www.sharegoji.com
